Who is Ms Hatipoglu? Nothing has always tried to bring the teachers a little closer to you, so here's another one. Where are you originally from, where else have you taught, and how did you get this job at TOIS? I'm from a small island called Buyukada near Istanbul, Turkey. I've taught in Istanbul, Sakarya, and London. I was looking for a job abroad when a friend told me about this school and I reached out. What smell always takes you back to your childhood? Linden blossoms, sea / seaweed What's something you miss most about the place (or a place) you call home? The sea Where in Ostrava do you most like to be? Old Town Square Do you ever intend to return to said home, or will you keep traveling, or do you want to stay in Ostrava for ever and ever? I don't know. I am here now, and not planning to go back next year. However, "the best laid plans of mice and men go oft awry," so, I'll wait and see what life has planned for me. Why did you want to become a teacher, and what does teaching mean to you? I wanted to become a teacher because it was the easiest option at the time I graduated from high school, but I chose to continue teaching. I could have stopped after I had my Master's degree in business administration, but I liked being part of the change and decided to go on. So, to me , teaching means change for good. I hated History and Math when I was at school. I later realised it was not the subjects but the teachers I didn't like. About Math, I am not very angry at my teachers, they helped me to keep my distance with the subject:) About History, I have always been sad. What's the color of your favorite month? What fictional teacher do you most respect and admire? There are two fictional teachers I really like, both Turkish, and their stories have a lot of cultural connotations, so difficult to explain here. The one I can remember from the international world is John Keating, Dead Poets Society. July, yellow What are your thoughts on snow? I love snow! Especially in Istanbul, we used to get snow days off, I loved it even more at those times:) How many times did you go to the Christmas markets this past Christmas? I guess about twenty times, including Krakow, Tallinn, Helsinki, two each in Prague and Vienna, and three days at the official Santa's workshop in Rovaniemi, Finland (on Christmas Day!)
